Frequently Asked Questions

What should my child wear for Jackrabbits or to ski in different weather?
For Jackrabbits, ensure to dress in layers, wear warm socks, cover your ears and on really cold days, hand and feet warmers come in handy.

How can I learn to ski?
We offer private lessons, youth programs and adult programs. Also, the chalet staff are always happy to give you tips! Click Here for program and lesson information.

What are the chalet hours and what do you offer?
We are open from 9 AM until 5 PM on weekends and from 9 AM until 9 PM on weekdays. The lights on the 3km night ski trail turn on at sunset and remain on until 9:30 PM all week and we have cross country ski rentals (classic & skate), as well as snowshoe rentals available. Click Here for more information.

What equipment do I need to get started?
If you are looking to rent equipment, the chalet staff will fit you with your size of skis, boots and poles. If you are looking to get your own equipment, our annual ski swap in early November is a great place to find used equipment and get sized!

What is the difference between classic and skate skiing?
Classic is the style most people start with and involves being in the groomed tracks. Classic skis are longer, while the poles are shorter. Skate skiing requires more technique and requires skis that are shorter, more supportive boots and longer poles. Both are equally as fun, feel free to ask the chalet staff for more information!

How and why should I wax my skis?
Although some skis are branded as waxless, they still require glide wax and storage wax in order to keep them in the best shape possible. The chalet offers waxing clinics and ski waxing.
